A Global Public Health Practitioner And Researcher
Dr. Luchuo Engelbert Bain – [MD, MPH, MSc (Bioethics), MBA (Strategic Human Resources Management, PhD-Transdisciplinary Solutions in Global Health], is a global public health physician, Public Speaker, implementation research scientist, and empirical bioethicist with over 15 years of global health experience. Currently, he is the Head of International Programs Unit at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), a leading research to policy African led research think -thank in Nairobi Kenya.
He has previously served as a senior program officer in global health with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Ottawa, Canada, as a senior research fellow in global health with the University of Lincoln in the UK, and has worked as a consultant for various international organizations, including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Population Services International (PSI).
Dr Bain is the convener of Global Health Otherwise, a platform that allows for an alternative narrative in rethinking global health education, practice, funding, and innovation. He has astute interest in understanding drivers of impact in global health research. He has a robust trans-continental knowledge base and experience in sexual reproductive health and rights, empirical bioethics, complex political economy analysis, decolonization of knowledge systems, global health entrepreneurship, science communication, and global health politics-diplomacy.
